NRK will air 5,5 hours of live orienteering from the pre-WOC/World Cup in Halden.

The broadcast from Pre-WOC/World Cup in Halden in the beginning of Spetember has been scheduled.

The national broadcaster NRK will show the events live on both Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of September, with the broadcating hours 17:00-19:00 and 10:00-13:30 (CET). That means that both Saturday's pursuit and Sunday's relays can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own living room. This agreement with NRK makes one of the best broadcasting agreements ever to be made for the sport of orienteering, comparable to the one from WOC 2010 in Trondheim.

It goes without saying that this makes both WOC Director Per Bergerud and NOF (Norwegian Orienteering Federation) president Astrid Waaler Kaas very happy.
- We are most satisfied that NRK owns the broadcasting rights for WC 2018 and WOC 2019. They have a great competence in helping build and create new profiles, and it will be exciting and interesting to work with them. They can promote the event and the sport very well, Per Bergerud says.
-I'm very pleased that Norwegian Orienteering will be given the opportunity to showcase the sport and our best athletes among the Norwegian population, we really look forward to the collaboration with NRK, Astrid Waaler Kaas adds.

The Secretary General of NOF, Lasse Arnesen, is enthusiastic as well by the fact that the national broadcaster NRK gives the population the chance to experience action packed orienteering through their TV screens.
-This has been a long process, and it is truely enjoyable that we have agreed upon a deal that gives the people of Norwaygreat entertainment. Then it's up to ourselves in NOF to make sure that Norwegians will look back upon the event as entertaining from a domestic perspective. Our squad contains all the best runners, including everyone who ran for Norway at WOC 2018, he says.

The Pursuit will be a thriller!

The man responsible for the commentary for NRK, Arild Andersen, has the following expectations for Pre-WOC:
- Previous experience suggest that there are a lot of good organising clubs for orienteering events in Østfold, which ensures the quality of the product this time around as well. I really hope and expect that the TV Production is taken under consideration in the course planning as well. Saturday's pursuit will be a thriller, and it will be a good test before WOC 2019 for us in NRK as well, Andersen says.

Arild Andersen's expert side kick will be former elite athlete Kjetil Bjørlo, but it is fair to say that Andersen keeps himself updated in what's going on in the world of orienteering as well:
- The Norwegian runners, especially the male athletes lately, are really strong at the moment. I reckon they have their minds set on putting on their best performances in the home forests. The female runners have many exciting young prospects coming up as well, this event can potensially be very fun and exciting.

Outside of Norway YLE will broadcast in Finland, and for the rest of the world you can watch the Pre-Woc/World Cup online at IOF LIVE Orienteering.
