The World Orienteering Championships in Østfold 12-17 August has reached an important milestone: One week ahead of the Early Bird deadline, more than 1000 entires have been registered for the spectator races.

Entries are coming in as we speak and so far 60 clubs from 25 nations are represented. You can enter the spectator races here

- We are impressed. This proves that the WOC in Østfold has gained a foothold all over the world. Everything is set for a big party during the WOC. It’ll be exciting to see how many will register before the Early Bird deadline, says WOC ambassadors Mari Fasting and Petter Thoresen, both former World Champions.

If you register before 15 April you will get a reduced entry fee.

- We encourage all runners to register now. It will make it easier for us to organise the event, and there is also a discount involved, says Finn Henry Lillestrand, head of the WOC spectator races.

The WOC week kicks off with a spectator race and opening ceremony from Sarpsborg city square on 12 August. On 13 August the world elite - and the public - will be competing from Knatterudfjellet north of Sarpsborg. The rest of the races will take place from Mørk golf course in Spydeberg, with the exception of one spectator race in Fredrikstad on Thursday 15 August.

- We are going to create the best ever WOC this August. After the spectator races you can follow the world’s best orienteers compete for medals in the woods around Mørk. It is perfect. All the WOC finals will be broadcast on a big screen at the arena with running commentary from the legendary Kjell Erik Kristiansen. There will be ample opportunities for eating and shopping. For children we will offer a children’s course, a maze, a punching trail and a kindergarten. So welcome; this will be exciting and fun! Fasting and Thoresen promise.

The organisers are experiencing great interest ahead of the World Championships. Several clubs and individuals have already booked their accommodation. Work is still ongoing to assist clubs with their needs and this will continue until the WOC.
