Today it was officially announced that Eidsberg Sparebank is WOC 2019's first Golden Sponsor. By that the organisers are one step closer to create a once in a lifetime experience. Østfold has never hosted any World Championships of any kind before, but that'll change with next year's WOC from 12th to 17th of August.

Today an agreement was signed with Eidsberg Sparebank,  and our new sponsors' contribution will be considerable.

Eidsberg Sparebank started out as a local savings bank in 1948, as a local and independent bank in Mysen, Indre Østfold. The bank's first office outside of Mysen was opened in WOC's host town of Sarpsborg in 2006.

-We give back to the local society of Indre Østfold every year, but we also aim to make the entire county of Østfold visible to outsiders. Supporting local happenings is one way of achieving that. There might be some exiting new business opportunities in it as well for us and we really look forward to this collaboration, CEO of Eidsberg Sparebank Morten Christoffersen says. And he hopes other local businesses enterprises join in as well.

Important to the organisers

WOC Director Per Bergerud tells that the interest concerning the event is great, but underlines the importance of having the first big sponsorship agreement sorted.

-This is a fantastic day for us. It gives us feedback that we are on the right path, and hopefully this can create something of a domino effect concerning  the local business life and obtaining even more local sponsors. The agreement gives extra financial security as well. One of our ambitions is to put local business life in Østfold on display, and therefore we are happy to have our first Golden Sponsors from Østfold, Bergerud says.

The clubs that created the WOC organisation are Halden Skiklubb, Gimle, Sarpsborg,  Fredrikstad, Moss,  Varteig,  Indre Østfold and Trøsken. The competitions will be held from 12th to 17th of August with the main competition arena at the farm of Mørk in Spydeberg. In addition six spectator races will be held on different locations during WOC.
