With brief previous experience only with orienteering the sixth graders from Åvangen elementary school in Moss won the WOC school sprint final at Inspiria Science Centre in Sarpsborg.

Østfold’s first ever world championship event is not for elite performers exclusively. One of many positive side effects is that all the schools in Østfold have been mapped for educational purposes.

Fun

14 teams had qualified for the sprint final in Sarpsborg. Among the fifth graders the victory went to another school from Moss, Øreåsen. Two out of two for Moss!

- Fun, the pupils from Moss shouted. They seemed very happy to make acquaintance with a sport filled with speed and excitement, not to mention the victory.

Flower ceremonies

The main prize for the winning teams is to hand over the flowers to the medal winners on the flower ceremonies in August, and other nice prices were awarded after the sprint final at the  Science Centre in Sarpsborg as well.
